Bringing Out the Outdoorsman In You.

So I had the opportunity to scratch my thriftin' itch this past weekend.
& lookey at what I scored.
Two wooden oars.
Now, I don't know about you but I don't consider myself an outdoorsy kind of person.
I like water sports: swimming (in a pool), jet skiing, and sailing. Okay, maybe more like sitting on a yacht sunbathing while someone else is doing the sailing but that's about it.
I don't mind hiking, camping, or rock climbing...I just don't do it often enough to call myself a huge fan of the outdoors.
But looking at these babies makes me wanna {almost} go to Canada and go canoeing. I have only done it once, and let me tell you, it was a blast! Definitely put 'canoeing' on your bucket list.

Not only do they bring back good ol' memories, but oars are just nice to look at, don't you think?
Mine are pretty old. The man selling them said they were passed down to him from his father and they were probably at least 50 years old. Yowza!
But in the DIY world, we don't let "old" things discourage us, right? We embrace them.

Here is some inspiration to get me going with my "new" old oars:

Feeling outdoorsy yet?
Oh and another thing. The oars are about 10 ft tall. Whoaaa!
It's a good thing I have plenty of bare wall space.

Like they say in the Crossfit community,
3-2-1 Go!

  1. Very cool find! Can't wait to see what you do with them and where you put them.

I have now added canoeing to my bucket list. You were very convincing ;)
